Sir,
Planning for the 2011 living history at Andersonville is now in full swing. Recruitment for both US prisoners and CS guards is underway. The Confederate guard force is by invitation only.
In that regard, Andersonville National Historic Site, the National Park Service, and the 2nd Battalion Georgia Sharpshooters would like to extend an invitation for the 20th Maine, Company B to represent federal prisoners for the living history at the park scheduled for March 11-13, 2011. Information and US Guidelines can be found online at http://www.georgiasharpshooters.org/Andersonville.html.
This promises to be a much different event than in years past with incorporation of round the clock guard shifts and guard rations in addition to a candlelit cemetery tour and flowing scenarios throughout the day.
We sincerely hope you choose to join the prisoner ranks. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Your humble servant,
Cpt. Gene Harmon
